Shed and Deck Demolition: What to Know Before You Start

An old shed or rotting deck is the most popular demolition request we get in the Metro East. Here is what the job actually involves.
Step 1: Utility Check
Before anything comes down, we confirm no electrical, water, or gas lines run to the structure. Buried lines are more common than homeowners expect.
Step 2: The Tear-Out
Structures come down in reverse order of how they went up — roofing first, then walls, then framing. Nails get pulled or hammered flat as we go, because loose fasteners become flat tires later.
Step 3: The Part Nobody Plans For
Debris volume. A single 10x12 shed fills a dump trailer several times over. Add concrete footings or a deck anchored in sonotubes and you are looking at serious weight — the kind that destroys a borrowed trailer and fills a driveway for weeks.
Step 4: Hauling and Ground Reset
We load our own dump trailer as we work, haul everything away, and can level or fill the old footprint if you want the space usable.
Because we own our truck and trailer, the demolition and the disappearance happen in the same visit. Call (618) 915-9736 for a free quote.
