From a Borrowed Nissan Frontier to Top Dog Contracting

A lot of people see where we are today, but we definitely did not start big. This is the real story behind Top Dog Contracting LLC.

Our owner, Carmelo Mendoza, started this business young. He had been doing heavy roofing labor since he was 13, so he knew how to work hard — but he had zero experience running a business or making sales. All he had was a vision: help people get quality work done at fair prices.

Starting Out

When we first opened, we were strictly a roofing company. Jobs were slow, so Carmelo took on whatever work came his way: mowing lawns, landscaping, leaf removal, pulling weeds, gutter cleaning, and demolition jobs. He was driving a borrowed 2001 Nissan Frontier with no trailer. For bigger jobs, he rented a U-Haul truck just to pick up materials and equipment.

The Hard Times

There were dry weeks and long months with no paychecks coming in at all. Every slow day, he hit the streets, marketed, and kept pushing forward. It was a refusal to give up that got us through.

Where We Are Today

After two years of nonstop hustling, we bought our first official company truck — a Ram 2500 Diesel — and our own dump trailer. Today, Top Dog Contracting LLC is fully established, providing top-tier, reliable services at truly affordable prices, backed by real workmanship warranties.

We built this company from the bottom — one mowed lawn, one rented U-Haul, and one roof at a time. And we are just getting started.
